took my fixybike for a longer ride for the first time this year.... 20km from olari to kallio yesterday and back today, the sun was shining, i had a hangover and i just giggled inside all the way.

btw the roads were icy,slushy and full of gravel, 23mm michelin axial bi-sport on front and 28mm vittoria rando on the rear, didnt fall once!

made some really good porridge for breakfast. herres the recipe

about 1 part oatmeal (preferably free EU food-support kind) and 2,5 parts water. add a little salt if you want. boil em for like 10minutes on low heat. add 3 tablespoons of Vanilla infused extra virgin olive oil and raisins and acai honey.

i was thinking of adding coconut milk and cinnamon but maybe next time...

i made a huge amount of this and now i think i have to go eat the little what is left...

and by the way yes i am eating breakfast at 6pm

BBC news have released an article about poets... Poetry, the creative process and mental illness

"The incidence of mood disorders, suicide and institutionalisation was 20 times higher among major British and Irish poets between 1600 and 1800 according to a study by psychologist Kay Redfield Jamison.

im not going to analyze the article too much, just share a few thoughts that came to me... it sure was interesting and had some good points like "Of course the more people break the rules, the more likely they are to be perceived as 'mentally ill'."

declaring one mentally ill has always been also a method of rulers to quiet opposition and great thinkers who could be of harm to them. i think "mentally sick" people are very often the most original, most real, most creative, most open people of all. the definition of normal nowadays is someone who cant look at things from another point of view, and are locked to the one sad reality the people in power want them to be in.

in many indigenous tribes, people that would be nowadays considered sick, we're often shamans and healers. it is a usual concept that a shaman must become sick and be healed(or heal himself) so he learns about the sickness and how to cure it. see also Wounded healer

I have also made some plugs out of wood myself, ill have to practice that a little more and maybe some day ill set up a similar shop, id like to learn stone working too. i can make simple custom earplugs if someone happens to be interested, quite easy to make large sizes which are harder to find in most piercing shops....

alone at home and maybe in a little hangover... days like these are always emotionally very stressing, you just think about your life all day and meditate on difficult matters.... it is hard but i feel like you have to go through this to grow and learn...... smoking ganja (which i havent done too much for a while) has become a little bit like that nowadays too, it doesnt necessarily make me feel happy and cloudy and forget about bad things but it's more a look into the deepest and darkest places of my mind... i might go for days just sitting home and meditating and thinking but i think in the end it makes me stronger... feels like a lot of people avoid this kind of self-examination and just brush the feelings and thoughts off and forget about them, but what you leave behing will come back to you... might be one of the reasons people are going mad and getting depressed.....

all this might just be a pile of crap and im not sure if i can express my thoughts 100% clear in english and if this makes any sense but whatever.........

i was feeling tired and bored and depressed and crap, so i decided to go for a little bike ride... i had agreed earlier about bying a seatpost from a guy living near me so i went to get it. he turned out to be a really nice guy, i talked with him for like 15 minutes instead of the usual one or two sentences you exchange when buying parts from someone. he was like 40-50 and he said he rides to work (nearly) everyday, 37km one way and on a brakeless bike!
i used to bike 20km each way to school everyday and that already was kinda tough so big props!
only a few decades ago that was normal for a lot of people living in the countryside but nowadays people think youre loony if you bike that much...

on the way there i felt kinda sick, my ears hurt and my tooth ached and my throat was sore but when i started biking back i felt great! when biking 30km/h in snowfall it feels like someone is sandblasting your face but even that feels kinda fun when youre in the right mood...

i knew a pretty good dumpster diving spot near where i was going so i visited there on the way back. i also found a new spot quite near there which was perfect and im gonna start looting it regularly!

nearly always when dumpster diving i take my trusty german army backpack. you can buy one at Varusteleka
(it used to cost like 7 euro but i guess they noticed ppl are willing to pay more)

strikkly biowaste this time but i dont mind, i love fresh fruit&veggies!

so remember kids, when feeling down and blue, ride your bike, dive a dumpster, get into a conversation with someone you dont know and soon you will feel like youre born anew!
